Welcome to The Morning Bark This web news page will address new issues in the
world of dog breeding, and how we at the Farm are addressing these new
challenges to dog breeding. We want you to feel secure when buying a puppy from
the Farm; so, we will continue our policy of keeping our loyal clients informed of
everything that is happening here.
We have had several personal challenges here at the Farm. We welcome each and
every one, regardless of their origination,as we realize challenges are problems to
be solved, and make a better breeding program.
Our first recent challenge was initiated by anonymous well dog checks called in to
the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office on our behalf. One of these calls was
received at midnight, one in the day time. The officers who came to Puppy Love
were diligent, and dutifully came to the Farm and inspected our facility, both in the
kennel and the nursery. They found absolutely no deficiencies in our facility,
neither in our cleanliness nor in the health of our dogs, nor in the treatment of our
animals. In fact, one officer was quite impressed that we have a septic system,
beds for our dogs, and heating and air conditioning, which is well above any
federal USDA standards. So, if the well checks were either well intended, or meant
to cause problems for the Farm, we thank you anyway for reaffirming we are a
great breeding facility. THANKS!!
Our second challenge was how to eliminate nasty protozoa such as Coccidian and
Giardia from our puppies. After much research with local veterinarians,
veterinarians not so local, and several teaching veterinary colleges across the
country, we feel we now have a health protocol for our puppies that exudes
excellence. We now use a product called Marquis to eliminate Coccidian from all
puppies. Marquis is the only product in the world known to actually KILL Coccidian.
All dogs have Coccidian, and this is the only product that will KILL these vermin.
You can now feel safe that your puppy will not have Coccidian when it leaves
Puppy Love Farms. As for Giarda, it has been quite difficult to treat for these bugs
due to diminutive sizes of our puppies. We now collaborate with the wonderful
Williams Pharmacy in Purcell, OK. They have worked with our vet and have created
a custom formulary that eliminates Giardia from even the tiniest of puppies. YOu
can now feel safe that when you buy a puppy from Puppy Love Farms, they will be
free of these two nasty intestinal bugs. Since we instituted the use of Marquis in
January 0f 2009, we have had no puppies leave our facility and test positive for
Giardia. Also, we have had a few puppies test positive for Giardia after leaving the
Farm. We have found that vets who use a SNAP TEST for Giardia detection are
getting up to a 70% false positive result. SNAP TESTS for Giardia are not a reliable
testing instrument for Giardia. So, we feel our puppies are Giardia free when they

Our third, and largest recent challenge identified has been that of new tests in the
world of dogdom. These new tests can actually identify the actual heritiage of a
dog. A blood sample or saliva swab is taken from the dog, and sent to a lab. The
lab then extracts DNA that will determine if a dog has, traits that show the dog to
be 100% Shih Tzu, for example.
We happen to think this is a GREAT revolution in the dog world. In light of this
wonderful new testing, Puppy Love Farms will be testing every foundation dog in
our kennel to determine if they are indeed what they are registered as by our
registries. Any foundation dog/breeding dog who is determined to not be of pure
bred heritage will be removed from our breeding program, or will be used to make
designer dogs, which are extremely popular at the Farm. Additionally, effective
1/1/2009, we are instituting the following policy which will also fall under our
genetic/hereditary defects policy that is already in our contract. If the parents of
your puppy born after 1/1/2009 are found to be genetically deficient in their true
heritage, you will be contacted by Puppy Love Farms and notified of this
deficiency. At this point, you are free to either return or keep the puppy born after
1/1/2009; additionally, you will be free to choose ANY BREED of puppy that is of
equal or lesser price than you paid for your puppy as a replacement for your puppy
that was genetically deficient in their heritage.
We want you to know that Puppy Love would never knowingly sell to anyone a
puppy of deficient heritage. We have no need or desire to deceive anyone. In fact,
we proudly breed and sell Designer dogs for a higher price than many of our
pedigreed dogs.
WE feel we are placing dog breeding on a new plane by instituting this wonderful
policy. However, the catch to this is that DNA testing for heritage is somewhat
expensive. By the time we have tested all of our foundation stock,(we will be
happy to present the proof of heritage to you for any puppy you purchase, once all
testing is completed) we will have incurred over $10,000.00 in expenses to
complete testing. There for, we are adding a DNA fee of $15.00 to each puppy sold
until we have recouped $5,000.00 in expenses, effective 06/01/2009. We hope our
loyal customers will understand we simply cannot afford to complete all this
testing without recouping some cost. We keep our standards high and have high
expenses. Thank you for understanding.
Furthermore, we challenge every dog breeder in the state to rise to these grat
new standards we are now setting in the industry!!!!! We want dog breeding to be
of a high reputation, and the only way this will happen is if we all work together to
elevate our profession. This is why Puppy Love Farms is also advocating
legislation in Oklahoma to hold dog breeders to a higher level of excellence!!!!
Remember that when you purchase a puppy from Puppy Love Farms you can feel
safe that it is genetically sound and has received the best medication available!!!!!
